July 27 — NW of 21st & Main (+ Willis Heights)

North of 21st, west of Main, south of highway 66 , east of Gay (+ Willis Heights)

Total for today: 22,850 steps and 4:02 time.

Willis Heights (west of Wal-mart, north of highway 66) is not technically in the Longmont city limits, but it’s right next door, so decided it fit in with my walking.  The street signs there are smaller and shorter than the ‘official’ Longmont signs, but other than that look very similar…

Now to finally move to south of highway 66…   there were a lot of streets here that had a new coat of asphalt…

As you go east from Gay on Parker,  there are three consecutive courts…  Gordon, Scott, and Key.  I can only hope that the city planners wanted to name the first one of these Francis Court… but decided not to because there is a major Francis Street about half a mile to the west.   Or maybe Francis Scott Key had a famous brother named Gordon??   At any rate, it would have been pretty cool to have three consecutive courts … Francis, Scott, and Key.

  1. So glad you took a picture of those amazing bricks. I live nearby and drive by them frequently.

My husband and I have speculated that the house with all the antennas (antennae?) is inhabited by a person who is a ham radio operator.

And yes, the area was recently chipsealed, which is what all that new looking asphalt was about.

    Cheers!

    • Thanks for the comments. My daughter actually put in a bid to buy the ‘crazy brick’ house, but didn’t get it. It looks like someone has moved in there now, though. I suspect you are right about the ‘antenna’ house.

  2. I think I saw you walking and taking pictures Saturday morning on Pratt Street. It was like seeing a Longmont celebrity. I should’ve stopped and asked for an autograph.

I run through these neighborhoods (Main to McIntosh Lake, 66 to 17th). I love seeing the unique sites you capture. It’s a great perspective on our town. Keep up the great blog!

    • You’re right… I was walking the Southmoor Park neighborhood between Pratt and Bowen on Saturday morning (July 30). I’ll have the blog for that area up in a day or two.
Thanks for the positive remarks (although it’s a pretty sad commentary if I’m a ‘Longmont celebrity’!!?! — perhaps on the celebrity ‘D-list’ with Kathy Griffin)
