Longmont Street Walker | October 5 — Westlake, Lake Park, & North of 66

North of the Longmont Supply Ditch (20th street if it went through), west of Hover, south of highway 66, east of Harvard.

(but also including the area up to Mitchell Court north of highway 66, which I believe is not actually in the Longmont city limits).

Total for today : 26,000 steps and 5:06 time. (pedometer wasn’t working well today because of how it was attached, so gave a conservative estimate)

STREET NAMES NORTH OF HIGHWAY 66

There are some unusual street names in the area north of highway 66. Jennifer told me they were based on the names of the kids of the developers of the area. A resident of the area, Sherry, was kind enough to send me an email with the details…

Intersection of Jotipa and Anhawa

Hey Mark,

It was great to see you Sat. walking our neighborhood.

You’re right about the street names being named after the developers kids etc. The developer name was Ed (forgot the last name). I got all this history from one of our neighbors who used to date Ed and she is now 83 and Ed has died.

Anhawa stands for Anita, Harley, Warn (Ed’s kids names).

Jotipa stands for John, Tim, and Pat (Ed’s friends kids).

Sheramdi stands for Sherry like me, Amy, and Diane (Ed’s brothers kids).

Aljan stands for Allen, Janet (Ed’s niece was Janet).

And Fleetwood was the Model of Cadillac that Ed drove – funny huh!

THE PUMPKIN PATCH

The Pumpkin Patch is also right north of highway 66. It’s activities have grown quite a bit since our kids were of the age to go there. Lots of things to see and do… and Jennifer, Tiffany, and I went there the next day because I had a yen to try their bing cherry cider I saw advertised.
