July 12 — Sanborn Elementary / Raber Park

North of 21st, west of Francis, south of Highway 66 , east of Spencer

Total for today: 16,440 steps and 2:52 time.

One new license plate today… Connecticut (cumulative 47)

According to the sign, Sanborn Elementary, which is right next door to Raber Park, helps keep  the park clean.  That seems like a great idea to me… it give the kids a little pride in their surroundings, and I assume also gives them some nice additional playground space.

I didn’t know what a Cavalier was (other than a type of car)

According to the above article, a Cavalier is only the 44th most intelligent dog… so that doesn’t say much for the honor student!!?!

The following two items remind me of growing up on a farm in south-central Nebraska.   We had a grinding wheel similar to the one above, which Dad actually used at times, but was more commonly used by us kids to sharpen sticks.  I’m pretty sure the other thing is a boot scraper… the cement part is buried in the ground.   I’m not sure what the big metal bucket next to it is used for….

I was listening to the radio some while I walked today (Lewis and Floorwax on 103.5 The Fox), and they were talking about try-outs for Who Wants to be a Millionaire in Denver that morning.  When I got home, I looked it up online, and saw there was also a noon and 5pm tryout in downtown Denver that day.  So I decided to give it a shot.  I passed the 30-question test and was given an interview.  I should find out in a week or two whether I  make it into the pool  or not.

I asked the representative from WWtbaM what percentage of people who are in the pool make it onto the show, and she kind of hem-hawed around the question, saying essentially that there were too many variables.  I have a feeling that means the percentage may be fairly low, and they just don’t want to say.

Apparently Meredith Vieira is leaving the show soon, and Cedric the Entertainer will be the host for next season.    (by the way,  Vieira is a really hard name for me to remember how to spell)
